Book Review Of Saved By Love By Shilpa Suraj
| MARKETER Book Review of âSaved by Loveâ by Shilpa Suraj âSaved by Loveâ by Shilpa Suraj was a surprisingly good read for me. Let me explain! I am not a romantic individual at all. And I didnât grow up binging on Mills & Boons either unlike my friends. I couldnât get past a couple of pages even in my adolescent years. Adventure, thriller, or thriller are my go-to genres in relation to studying. But after I acquired some nice suggestions from Namrata Sadhvani, a fellow writer pal about Shilpa Surajâs writing, I knew it might be a good read for certain. The e-book pans out like a film in your head. Itâs visible, dramatic, and well-etched out. We are taken to Ladakh within the opening scene with Naina, the feminine protagonist whoâs been kidnapped by terrorists. Itâs a far-fetched opening for a romantic book however satiating for an journey lover like me. The opening is impressive, and the reader can not help but be enamored by Shilpaâs writing fashion. Pretty quickly, we're launched to Arjun, the male protagonist who's a li eutenant and the head of the rescue operation staff for saving Naina, who additionally happens to be the daughter of the Supreme Justice of India. Needless to add, they fall âhead-over-heelsâ with one another during the 2-three days of the rescue operation as they attempt to sneak out of sight from the terrorists. Naina is also engaged to a rising star in politics, and the massive social standing hole between Arjun and Naina come as thorns in their budding romance. Itâs how Shilpa treats a typical romantic trope that makes the book a pleasant and memorable read. There are several dynamics and layers thrown into the plot that makes it attention-grabbing to explore. The greatest win of the guide, though, is the writerâs capacity to make her readers emotionally connect with her characters. Arjun, in fact, is incredible and a ladyâs dream come true. But greater than Arjun, I had an enormous girl crush on Naina. Youâll understand once you read the book. It is difficult not to fall in love with a woman like Naina. She is brave, resilient, sincere, actual, perceptive, witty, and sensible. Itâs love that makes the world go round. You donât have to be a romantic individual to grasp its significance. Love is what makes your life worthwhile. The best part is that itâs fluid and has so many languages to go well with each person. Love is perfectly irrational as we now have no self-control on who we're drawn to. âSaved by Loveâ is an unabashed celebration of the irrationality of affection. Iâd suggest the book for its passionate pursuit to tell a great story in a healthful, entertaining, and unforgettable fashion. You can purchase âSaved by Loveâ on Amazon:/SAVED-LOVE-SHILPA-SURAJ/dp/ Iâd recommend the e-book for its passionate pursuit to tell an excellent tale in a wholesome, entertaining, and unforgettable trend. Concentrate on how the circumstance can be improved, and offer potential arrangements. This will help set a constructive pace and keep you from leaving individuals with a troublesome impression of you that could discolor your expert notoriety. Should wellness programmes be made compulsory Viewpoint careers advice blog
Should wellness programmes be made compulsory Many studies indicate that wellbeing programmes can improve productivity and retention. But is making such programmes compulsory a help or hindrance to organisations and their workforces? In the latest Hays Journal, we explore the potential benefits and pitfalls of enforcing participation. You would be hard pushed to find anybody who is willing to argue the case against wellness programmes. Statistics from United Healthcare show that 62 per cent of employees using them report productivity rises, 56 per cent have fewer sick days and 30 per cent even have a disease detected through health screenings. A further study on workplace wellness programmes, conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), found that participants in such schemes were more likely to feel that their management cared about their health. David W. Ballard, Assistant Executive Director for Organisational Excellence at the American Psychological Association, explains: âEmployee wellbeing and organisational performance are inextricably linked, so taking care of workers is not only the right thing to do as an employer, but it also makes good business sense. âIn a healthy workplace, employees benefit from better physical and mental health, increased job satisfaction and higher morale,â he continues. âMeanwhile, organisations can see improvements in performance and productivity, reduced absenteeism and turnover, while gaining a reputation as an employer of choice.â But despite the benefits, the NBER study found that less than 39 per cent of eligible employees chose to participate at all. So, given the benefits for employer and employee alike, should it be a surprise that some organisations are implementing compulsory programmes? Not every employee will get involved âThe question of compulsory programmes is a really interesting one,â says David Price, CEO of health and wellbeing firm Health Assured. âThe biggest problem with wellbeing initiatives is that often, the biggest converts are the employees who are already very fit. Meanwhile, those with poor wellness â" who employers really want to target â" get left behind and donât improve a companyâs overall good health.â KPMG was reported to have launched one such programme earlier in the year. The consultancy firm launched a three-day course for all UK-based auditors, known as âKPMG Audit Universityâ. Compulsory sessions included mindfulness and yoga to help staff deal with the stress and scrutiny their job can entail. More physically focused programmes have been introduced, too. In Sweden, so-called âcompulsory exerciseâ has been described as the countryâs latest craze. Each Friday, staff at fashion and sportswear company Björn Borg are required to tools for a mandatory workout at a nearby gym, and other organisations (such as city water company Kalmar Vatten and consultancy Rotpartner) are following suit. But will more employers really be tempted to make wellness mandatory? It seems that some organisations will take a bit of convincing. Participation has to be down to the individual In Russia, Anastasia Prechistenskaya is Head of Human Resources CIS at Group SEB â" the French consortium that owns brands including Tefal and Krups. She says being part of a French-owned multinational company with high âGreat Place to Workâ score already means that staff are well cared for, but earlier this year, she officially launched a wellbeing strategy (called âTake Care, Be Wellâ), because she feels that staff first need to be made aware of whatâs there for them. âWeâre inviting experts to talk about diet and healthy eating, and weâve begun a process to promote the benefits of doing sport and physical health, including having a yoga trainer in the office twice a week,â she says. She says that building initial engagement was the biggest hurdle, but once it had been overcome, staff began making their own wellbeing requests. âWe find that once people are engaged this way, itâs the small things that really make a difference. For instance, in Kazakhstan, staff asked if we could simply buy them an extra fridge, because that way we could help them bring in their own, healthier, home-made lunches.â Now that awareness is there, she says sheâll be bringing in elements that are already successfully run in other Group SEB locations, like massages (currently offered to staff in Poland). âWe want to make health part of our company culture,â she says. âBut one thing is certain: making it mandatory would not be an option. Health comes from peopleâs hearts. They have to make their own decisions about whether to participate.â There may be unintended consequences Ballard also raises warnings when it comes to insisting on employee participation: âAlthough companies may have good intentions in mandating participation in wellness activities, those efforts can backfire if not executed properly â" disrupting trust, heightening tensions and allowing cynicism to grow in the workplace. âIf employees are forced to participate in wellness activities, those who were already self-motivated to do so may begin to feel like itâs a chore. Similarly, those who participate against their will may take a compliance-based approach and do the bare minimum to meet requirements or avoid penalties. âUnfortunately, this can lead to employees resenting programmes they might otherwise find valuable, and limit the gains achieved.â âWhen an employer makes something compulsory, it means they are effectively deciding whatâs important for employees and that is a significant use of powerâ argues Megan Reitz, Professor of Leadership and Dialogue at Ashridge Business School â" âit means these decisions need to be made rigorously, respectfully and ethicallyâ. She is required to tussle with this conundrum herself, as she integrates mindfulness sessions into development training for high-potential executives. And compulsory training doesnât always work for staff, says Mike Blake, Wellbeing Lead at Willis Towers Watsonâs health and benefits division. He argues that itâs the very ability to choose that engages them in the first place. âSome may want financial assistance more than health, or vice versa,â he adds. Employers need to provide protection regardless Thatâs not to say that employers shouldnât be offering protection to their employees. Bruce Daisley is VP â" EMEA at Twitter and host of the Eat Sleep Work Repeat podcast. He says that changes in the way we are living mean that organisations must take new steps to look after their staff. âI was reading a paper by banker turned academic Alexandra Michel â" she looked at how the banking industry has been built on new hires working 120-hour weeks,â he explains. âItâs happened for a century, but in the last ten years â" despite the fact that the toll of these working practices has always been brutal â" there has been a shift. Young bankers have been collapsing, having breakdowns and sometimes worse. âThe difference is that our mobile phones have been filling the gaps. The bankers, who used to go home and sleep for six hours, are now not even achieving that. And for all the extremes of banking, weâre seeing the same damage in our own jobs too. Workplaces are seeing a great toll on workers and are having to take actions to help.â However, Daisley agrees that mandatory wellness programmes are not the right approach: âIrrespective of the benefits, itâs not appropriate for firms to make it mandatory to join in schemes that are dealing with such personal psychological feelings.â Cultural transformation must come first Isaac Getz, Professor at the ESCP Europe School of Business, agrees that cultural change must come first. âToo many wellness programmes are like an aspirin,â he says, âin that they calm the fever but donât hit the root cause of why itâs happening. Wellness programmes only work if everything else about being at work is in alignment too. Thereâs no point having meditation or resilience classes if managers are still overworking people; if the environment is too controlling; if thereâs discrimination; or if there is no scope for autonomy. Wellness needs joining up to the business as a whole.â One way in which employers have increased participation is through incentivisation. IBM has four wellbeing programmes comprised of training courses lasting 12 weeks. It wants staff to participate in them, and so, to attempt to make this happen, it offers a maximum of US$300 a year (US$150 for each course completed). As a result, it reports that 80 per cent of its 400,000-plus staff have signed up for at least one of the wellness programmes every year. Other strategies employers could start to use include moving a greater proportion of their wellness options into employeesâ flexible benefits pot â" essentially forcing them to use them or lose them, and guaranteeing at least some engagement with wellbeing services. Sue Baker, Director of the âTime To Changeâ movement at mental health charity MIND, believes this is a good place to start. âMental health sessions should certainly be encouraged or incentivised,â she says. âWhile the carrot is probably better than the stick, the business case for dealing with mental health canât be ignored.â She adds that, while making participation in wellness programmes compulsory may not be the right thing to do, staying more aware of employee mental health issues could come through the review process instead: âI canât imagine why certain large companies couldnât make having a mental health check-in part of their annual review, or part of joining in the first place.â Changing the way we work A further force that could see compulsory programmes become more commonplace is the spread of co-working spaces (growth of which has more than doubled in the past few years, according to office space analyst Cushman Wakefield). Here, itâs the providers of workspaces (rather than the companies that locate there) that are now calling the shots from a wellbeing perspective. For instance, WeWork, the UKâs largest provider of co-working spaces (which also runs gym and yoga sessions at its locations), recently decided to ban meat in its canteens, and it promotes low-sugar, low-salt and slow glucose-releasing foods in the name of wellness. But Rob Hingston, boss of Origin Workspace (and former Group HR Manager at David Lloyd and HR Business Partner at Virgin Active), takes it a whole stage further: âOur wellbeing programme â" comprising organised workouts, âwork-out networkingâ (where people meet other businesses in the building while working out), monthly jogs or runs, and orienteering 8km runs â" are part of our culture. So much so, we use it to select the businesses that want to locate here.â He adds: âWeâre quite overt about it: if you want to work in this space, you need to join in with what we see as wellness. Compulsory is a strong word, but weâre keen to stress that tenants need to embrace the wellbeing element.â Yet he does sympathise with businesses struggling to improve participation. âEven at David Lloyd, a health business with 6,000 staff, voluntary wellness was something we had to work very hard on to get buy-in from people.â Finding the right balance For some, the key is to take a balanced approach. Pip Hulbert is Chief Operating Officer at digital agency Wunderman, which has 10,000 employees in 70 countries. For them, like other organisations, engagement was key to seeing staff join these programmes. She says this creates trust, arguing that it makes wellness something that staff own, and that they are therefore more likely to participate in. However, the organisation has made some elements of wellness mandatory for leaders in the organisation. The company has taken a more instructive approach when it comes to resilience; particularly in regards to their leaders. While companies can exercise control over their own culture, they are not necessarily able to protect their staff at all times from the challenges and stresses that come with their job. If left unchecked, low emotional resilience among staff can lead to higher absence rates and affect mental health. A survey of 2,063 individuals entitled The Positive Effect of Resilience on Stress and Business Outcomes in Difficult Work Environments found that good resilience among workers in high-stress jobs protected them against depression, absence and low productivity. Hulbert says that leaders at Wunderman are told they must attend sessions in this area â" not least because it protects the organisation more widely. She concludes: âItâs a big financial commitment, and I wanted to make sure as many people did it as possible, so we did mandate that all senior managers â" those with people management responsibilities â" attended it, purely because they need to be able to spot the signs early if people need help.â So, while there certainly isnât a consensus that a compulsory approach to wellness is the way forward, it seems that organisations are increasingly looking for ways to boost participation. Whether theyâre leaning towards new engagement strategies that focus on health or pushing leaders to get involved in new schemes, many businesses are placing a greater emphasis on addressing wellness among staff. Relocating with your career Heres 5 Tips for learning a foreign language.
Relocating with your career Here's 5 Tips for learning a foreign language. Relocating with your career? Heres 5 Tips for learning a foreign language. 2 Dec 2016 Relocating internationally with your career is an exciting but a somewhat daunting prospect; moving away from your friends and family, your home country and itâs culture. This prospect can become even more overwhelming if the country, which will become your new home, is also home of another language. International Consultant, Nicola Allan, who relocated to Madrid, gives her top 5 tips for learning a new language. Do make the effort In todayâs interconnected world English has become the universal language and itâs not uncommon to travel to a foreign country and get by speaking only our mother tongue (of which we Brits are particularly guilty). However, for many moving abroad, whether on a secondment or making a permanent move, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Embrace it. Donât rely on people to speak your language, make the effort. Donât be embarrassed In todays interconnected world, multilingualism has become increasingly important. As a result of this, billions of people have gone through the process of learning another language. The biggest language hurdle I overcame was learning not to be embarrassed to speak in Spanish. Locals will appreciate you making the effort to speak their langue, even if it is not perfect. In fact, you will probably find they are more than willing to help you and give you a quick lesson. Live with locals Moving abroad will push you to the periphery of your comfort zone. But be brave when it comes to choosing your living situation. It can be strange to imagine living with people who speak another language. Forget fears such as âI donât know how to say daily household wordsâ. This is the best way to learn the language. You will be required to learn and you will be grateful you did. Whatâs more, you will benefit from your flatmates local knowledge: best restaurants, bars, customsâ¦you name it, they know it. Take advantage of tech There are many free language learning apps; dictionaries, verb tables and word games. Take advantage of these. Forget a word, no problem. Look it up on your dictionary app and donât let not knowing this make you revert back to speaking in your native language. Make it Relevant Donât force yourself to read endless textbooks on grammar and vocabulary. Try to listen, watch or read things that you are interested in and then think about how you will use what you have learned in conversations. Listen to music, see if there is a TV series you like that has been dubbed into this language, read one of your favourite books which has been translated. This will make it more interesting to learn and you will pick up lots of everyday phrases. If this has piqued your interest in an international move, why not have a look at the roles available right now or get in touch with the team

The suit shed light on effectively common unavoidable predispositions and sexual orientation separation all through Silicon Valley, where men enormously dwarf ladies. Actually, only 11 percent of official situations at Silicon Valley organizations are held by ladies as indicated by The Observer.Unconscious inclinations adversely sway decent variety across almost every industry, and can bring about oppression certain races, ethnic gatherings, religions, sexual directions, ages, and other minorities. What is oblivious bias? The two significant kinds of predispositions are cognizant and oblivious inclination. While the two sorts bring about generalizations about and preferences against a specific gathering or gatherings of individuals, cognizant inclination is, as it sounds, a conviction that is express, which means the individual knows about her predisposition, while an oblivious inclination is verifiable, which means the people conviction is outside of her cognizant awareness.Unconscious predispositions may beand frequently arein strife with a people esteems and convictions. Conduct that outcomes from oblivious predisposition for the most part doesnt originate from a position of sick aim. Its something that has been reproduced in usyes, most, if not all of usover long periods of rehashed presentation to specific expressions, social standards, media delineations, and other influences.Unfortunately, in light of the fact that we might be ignorant of our generalizations and partialities, they can influence our activities and choices all through the working environment. Oblivious predispositions can become possibly the most important factor in va rious business situations: employing choices, advancements, gatherings (as far as to whom youre tuning in and with whom youre concurring), and numerous other situations. What are the sorts of oblivious bias? There are numerous kinds of oblivious inclinations, which makes the issue even more mind boggling and hard to overcome.Conformity predisposition drives a person to supplant her own assessment for that of the bigger group.Confirmation predisposition is the tendency to search for and center around qualities that affirm a people preconceptions.Affinity inclination depends on the idea that we need to encircle ourselves with individuals like us.Halo impact happens when we center around a specific constructive reality about an individual to where we disregard other, conceivably antagonistic attributes about her.Horns or foot impact is something contrary to the corona impact: We let one saw adverse trait of an individual cloud our judgment about the remainder of her characteristics. How w ould we be able to address oblivious inclination in the workplace?Unconscious inclination can influence everybody. From recruiting practices to maintenance endeavors toAs generally, a few businesses are endeavoring to handle inclination in the working environment head on. One strategy is oblivious inclination preparing. While this preparation stays famous, theres some inquiry regarding its adequacy, on the grounds that the training appears to have little impact on expanding assorted variety in working environments. Actually, the training can even be hurtful, since proof showing that individuals depend on generalizations can propagate and standardize the very generalizations associations are attempting to combat. However, whenever progressed nicely, oblivious inclination preparing can positively affect working environment culture. As per Joelle Emerson of Paradigm, finding some kind of harmony between abstaining from being excessively guarded about biasesexplaining that these practice s dont happen in light of the fact that were terrible peopleand conveying the significance of dealing with our inclinations is one key practice in preparing that can prompt an increasingly comprehensive work environment. In the Harvard Business Review, she additionally composes that organizing trainings around explicit work environment practices, instead of progressively worldwide research, and matching hypothesis with techniques for overseeing predispositions yielded more grounded outcomes at Paradigm.Another instrument, the Implicit Association Test, uncovers people groups certain inclinations by estimating relationship between ideas in their psyches. The thought is that perceiving our own recognitions will better empower us to address them. Pundits have voiced worries about the test, contending that the IAT isnt entirely solid and doesnt present a sufficient connection between oblivious inclination and conduct. The test needs more research, yet could bring issues to light about t he requirement for perceiving and tending to our behaviors. What next? Its clear that so as to address certain inclinations and advance a culture of decent variety a consideration, bosses need to organize distinguishing how these predispositions and practices are affecting their work environments and help their representatives comprehend and perceive how they impact their dynamic procedures. Mindfulness is the initial step to making and grasping another outlook.

Pluralsight Course Leadership for Non-managers
Pluralsight Course Leadership for Non-managers I just released my 33rd Pluralsight course (my course count is 32 because one of my courses was retired/replaced). This course, titled Leadership for Non-managers, is on one of my favorite topics: personal development, specifically with leadership. I believe that everyone could and should develop leadership qualities. I think you should get ready for opportunities that will come your way. Now is the time to start, not when you get the opportunity. In this very short (1 hour and five minutes) course I talk about what leadership really is, and discuss an epiphany that I had that helped me rethink and reframe leadership. The epiphany helped me better understand the answer to what makes a great leader? I talk about leadership styles, which helps you understand why different leaders seem different, and I give solid examples of leadership characteristics. My favorite module is the last one. It is only 14 minutes long but I have what I think is my best how do I actually implement these ideas? How do I make progress? discussions. I give a seven step plan that you can implement to become a leader, regardless of your current title. JibberJobber users can get double the JibberJobber upgrade when they self-report for watching this course. Just click the button twice for every one time you watch it. Enjoy! 10 Leadership Experience Examples for Interviews and Resumes - Career Sidekick
10 Leadership Experience Examples for Interviews and Resumes - Career Sidekick 10 Leadership Experience Examples for Interviews and Resumes Interview Questions and Answers / https://www.edenscott.com/blog You could hear this question in any interview whether its an entry-level position or a Director job: What are some of your leadership experiences?Im going to give you the 3 steps to make sure you give a GREAT interview answer that stands out and makes them think yes, this is the person we should hire! Then, well look at 10 examples of leadership experience you can include on your resume or mention in interviews (including some you may not realize you have!)Lets get startedHow to Answer What Are Some of Your Leadership Experiences? There are a couple guidelines to keep in mind. You want to pick leadership examples that follow these 3 guidelines:Choose an example thats as relevant as possibleWhat does this mean? If youre applying for a Customer Service Supervisor job, and youve had some leadership experience in other customer service roles, you should absolutely share that! Thats much more relevant than leadership on a sports team, in school, etc.So always go with whats most relevant first!Pick something thats somewhat recent if you canRecent experience beats older experience if everything else is equal. So when you share some of your leadership experiences, pick things that are recent whenever you have a choice. And finally, choose an example thats impressive overallAlong with thinking about which of your experiences are most relevant and recent, you need to think about how impressive something is overall.Leading a large number of people is impressive.Managing people directly is more impressive than just leading people on a quick project (especially if youre interviewing for a job where youll be managing more people directly this goes back to whats relevant!)Leading a complex project is impressive.Handling multiple projects is impressive. You get the point. So also think about the scale of your past leadership, and the challenges involved, and try to share examples that are most challenging and have a wow factor.Best Interview Answer s for What Are Some of Your Leadership Experiences? So to give the best answer possible, you want to combine the three points above, and then be specific. If you have previous work experience, use the STAR method Situation, Task, Action, Result. What was the situation you were in? Was it school, a recent job, or something else? How many people did you lead, and who were they?Next, what was the task? What did you need to accomplish or what problem did you face? After that, talk about the action you took and how you led. What were your options, which did you choose as a leader, and why?And finally, conclude your leadership experiences by talking about the RESULT. Thats most important. How did things turn out? And what did you learn from it? How did you use this experience to improve and how will you use this knowledge to perform well in this job youre interviewing for!Its Okay if You Dont Have Perfect Leadership ExamplesMaybe you just graduated from school, or youre applying for your fi rst job. You might not have work-related leadership experience. Thats okay.Just pick the most relevant leadership experiences that you can think of.Do the best you can with the example you prepare. Nobodys perfect, and nobody has every single thing an employer wants in the interview, so you just need to prepare the best you can and give the best example you can when responding to the question. And if the STAR method isnt working (Ive seen people struggle to use it if your example of leadership experience is from sports, etc.), make it simpler and just focus on the situation, and what you learned from it.What was the goal, and how did you help accomplish it through leadership? And how did you improve and develop as a leader? Always show what you learned at the end!Thats one of the keys to answering this type of interview question. If you dont have any formal leadership experience (like managing a team at work, or managing client projects), here are 9 examples of leadership experience t o help you get ideas10 Leadership Experience Examples1. Leading a project or task in schoolThis can be any level of school. Choose whatever you completed most recently. If youre a college graduate, pick a project from the last one or two years of college. If you just graduated high school, choose something from your senior year.Taking a lead role in a school project is a great example of leadership experience. If you delegated tasks, chose the overall strategy for the project, or anything like that, thats leadership!Organizing a team presentation can also be considered leadership.2. Organizing a study groupMaybe you didnt lead projects in school, but you organized a study group after class. Thats still a great example of leadership and taking initiative.Any example of you taking initiative and doing something that wasnt required, but helped you succeed, is a good leadership example.3. Spotting a problem at work and finding a solutionMaybe you spotted a potential problem in your most recent job and brought it to your boss attention, or better yet fixed it yourself. This is a great leadership example.Any time you go above and beyond what your basic job requires and solve a problem or take the lead on something without being asked is great leadership.4. Sports leadership experienceIf youve played a lead role on any sports teams, this can certainly be used as a leadership example in job interviews. So think back to your past, and whether you led any sports teams.5. Volunteer/non-profit leadershipIf youve volunteered at a local foundation or non-profit and took a leadership role even in one task or for one day you can mention this as leadership experience. Some of the best leadership experience examples can be for one single day or one single moment; it doesnt need to be something you did for years.6. Training/mentoring newer team membersYou dont need to have a Manager or Supervisor job title to play a lead role in a past job. If you were ever asked to help get a ne w team member up to speed, train them on the basics, or watch over them on their first few weeks, thats a great example of leadership experience. This shows your past boss trusted you and knew they could rely on you. Thats one of the key things you want to try to do when sharing past leadership experiences pick something that shows other people thought you were someone they could trust and rely on.In an interview, this will help convince the interviewer that they can also rely on you! Thatll help you get hired.7. Managing clients/projectsMaybe youve never had people reporting directly to you, but youve managed projects or managed client accounts for your last company. You can certainly mention that as one of your leadership examples in the interview.8. Direct reportsIf youve ever had direct reports, this is the most powerful example you can give. If you hired people, did annual reviews, and had them reporting to you on a regular basis, this shows your employer trusted you at a very h igh level. While most people arent going to be able to give this as an example, if you can, you should!9. Leading a meeting or committeeThis can be at school, at an after-school organization, any type of volunteer organization, a job, a club, etc.If you led a meeting or committee for even a short time period or one-time event, thats still great leadership experience to put on a resume and then talk about in interviews if asked. For example, if you were part of a club that needed to host an event, and they put you in charge of the committee responsible for finding a venue and calling different event halls to ask if theyre available thats something you led.10. Passion projectsEven if you took the lead on a project that wasnt work-related and wasnt for a non-profit, you can still share it as a leadership example.Maybe you got three friends together to build an electric go-cart. This still shows the ability to manage and organize a highly-technical, time-consuming project. Thats a valuab le trait for many jobs!So dont be shy about sharing examples of leadership experience even if you werent paid for it, werent officially a manager, and werent doing it for an official organization or employer!Full Example Answers for What Are Your Leadership Experiences? Now that you know what to include in your answer, lets look at a few examples.Ill give an example for a recent graduate without work experience, and then for somebody who has work experience already.Example answer if you have no work experience:I just finished my degree in Finance, and most of my classes during my final year involved teamwork. I try to step up as a leader whenever possible, because it allows me to develop skills in communication, delegation, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines. In a senior-level Accounting class, we were broken off into teams of four and had to complete a large project throughout the entire semester. My team ended up getting the highest grade in the class because I set a schedul e early in the project and delegated tasks to people based on their strengths. I enjoy leading and delegating, and I hope to continue leading in my professional career now.Example answer if you do *not* have work experience:In my last job, I was responsible for supervising a team of five, including managing their schedules, training them and mentoring them. I enjoy leadership and am proud to say that two of these five people were promoted while I was mentoring them. In my job before that, I supervised a team of three designers on certain projects. I wasnt their direct manager but they reported to me for the projects I led. So I have a mix of project management experience from that role and direct management experience from my most recent job. I enjoy both. What To Do Next:Now you need to come up with your own examples of leadership experience to share in the interview.Think about where youve led, what youve learned, and which story will be most relevant to the employer.Remember the f irst thing we discussed: Your example of leadership experience should be as relevant as possible, somewhat recent, and impressive overall. If that doesnt sound familiar, go back to the first half of the article where this is mentioned. And whatever example of past leadership experience you choose to share, be ready to get specific and share real results. What was the outcome and what did you learn?Any time an interviewer is asking this, theres a good chance they want to hire a strong leader. So you need to sound like you enjoy leading and are comfortable doing more of this in the future!
